St. Aldi

Robbie mentioned to friend that we bargain grocery shop at Aldi. To which her response was, "White people shop at Aldi?"
Well, yes we do. At least we do. I have learned what things are worth the bargaining and what items need to be purchased at a "real" grocery store. However, I do think our frugality has benefited us over the long run. If we like to go to the movies and out to dinner and buy new clothes occasionally (okay, that's mostly just me) and have a newish HD TV (that one is all Robbie) then we have to give somewhere.

Just yesterday we bought 49 items (about 2 weeks worth of dinners/groceries) for $107.33-- that's pretty good! I mean, I have to make other trips for fresh produce and such, but we've got the crux of the groceries. (crux?? oh well.)

Robbie is obsessed with Aldi (as he is with anything that is incredibly cheap-- often with little care for quality-- unless it is electronics), so thanks to him, I have gotten on board the cheapie train (yes, that is an actually train).

So- maybe it's a little ghetto . . .
but maybe we don't care.

I remember my mom used to shop at Aldi in the late 90's in Wisconsin. We have one here, but I am too lazy to drive across town to check it out. Unlike Robbie, Ryan is harder to convince about cheap food. It drives me nuts! I made need some help loading his body on the cheapie train. He's going whether he likes it or not!

Toot! Toot! I'm on the cheap train too! We totally like Aldi and we're mostly white.

We like Aldi to, although we don't go very often because it is not close to us. But, whenever I go to visit my sister-in-law in the suburbs, I like to go to Aldi with her to stock up. I love their granola bars!

The "cheapo" gene runs strong through the Whitesides family. I hope you are ready for a little boy who likes store-brand diapers and half-price expired formula.

Actually Aldi is not cheapo. If you are ever in Germany you will see that Aldi started there and that is where EVERYONE shops. It's actually en vogue to shop at Aldi, indeed it is very European!!
